From the arts, to science and business, my interests span the horizon. Passion is my daily bread and I ignite new ones each day. I admire the innocence of children, the wisdom of the old and the heart of the fighter. As Community Enviromental Coordinator for CPAWS, I conceptualized, initiated and coordinated children's enviromental camps in my local and surrounding area, promoting enviromental awareness campaigns locally and petitioning nationally. I have volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, The Arthritis Society of Newfoundland and The Ability Employment Corporation, organizations which have personal relevance. In volunteering with Cambridge Estates Nursing home I have gained valuable insight into our senior population and the wisdom they can share. I am passionate about HIV/AIDS awareness and hope to travel to the Agape Home: Nikki's Place, Thailand as a future volunteer. In promoting literacy, I have been a peer tutor for five years, most recently with the Association for New Canadians. I am also currently volunteering at the Student Volunteer Bureau (SVB), Memorial campus. Apart from volunteering, I have passion for music, writing songs and composing piano melodies since the age of 13. I play the piano and omnichord, some acoustic guitar and drums, performing at local charity concerts and events with my sister. I hope to one day record an album. I love and adore my hometown, yes hometown, Newfoundland and Labrador, yet I want to explore. My main goal in life is to travel, meet and learn about others and as Maya Angelou so eloquently put it "I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself."
