About me
I graduated from the University of New Brunswick, where I completed a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies (more commonly referred to as a degree in Leadership), and a degree in Science with a major in Biology.
After finished university I completed an internship funded by the Canadian International Development Agency. I completed 2 months of training with the Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) and then worked in Lima, Peru, at COPEME, an organization that networks those involved in micro and small enterprises. Note: COPEME stands for the Consorcio de Organizaciones al Promocion al Desarollo des las Micros y Pequeñas Empresas (consortium of organizations for the promotion of development of micro and small enterprises). I was working on gender and youth initiatives within the organization, mainly with small, partner NGOs.
I am pursuing a career in international development. I am passionate about community development, gender, youth, poverty, health, and education, to name a few.
I also make and sell jewellery: hodderdesigns.etsy.ca
I was an Editor for Panorama for several years and later became Managing Editor.
I was recently chosen as one of 8 youth across Atlantic Canada to be a Global Youth Ambassador for the Active-8 Campaign, which is hosted by the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation. Youth were selected for this campaign because they have made significant contributions towards promoting global citizenship. We then collected votes in February, trying to motivate people to take action to make the world a better place.
I won the Active 8 Campaign! So thanks to all of you who voted. More information about the campaign can be found here: http://active8campaign.com/samantha-hodder/
