About me
Regine is passionate about empowering women and youth, as well as promoting Islamic social entrepreneurship as an ethical and sustainable way of life. She currently holds the position of Volunteers Head under the Committee for ASEAN Youth Cooperation - the authorized coordinating body for national youth institutions in the ASEAN. She also works as a Consultant for Salaam Microfinance, which provides interest-free loans and capacity building to microentrepreneurs in the Philippines.
Regine’s activism date back to her student leader years in Ateneo de Manila University, where she graduated with a degree in Development Studies. She is currently pursuing a Business Management Program at the Asian Institute of Management, and recently got accepted to pursue an MA in Southeast Asian Studies at the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam.
Regine is a traveller, and is particularly keen with Southeast Asia, while she has travelled around the region as a social worker. There, she has served as an English teacher for Rohingyas in Malaysia and Balinese hilltribes in Indonesia, and a project manager for anti-poverty NGOs in Singapore and a women’s social enterprise in Thailand. Hence, she has been invited to speak about volunteerism in several national and international youth conferences. She continues to organise peace-building efforts in Manila, Patani, and Johor.
Regine is also a member of various organisations such as the Young Leaders Network of World Islamic Economic Forum, and United Religions Initiative - an inter-faith community with consultative status under the United Nations.
