About me
I am a passionate person about many things: I love God with my whole heart!!, life, family, close friends, the fresh smell after it rains, a good book, traveling, experiencing different cultures/ food, laughter (trust, it is truely the best medicine), SMILING =D, positive people (there's no time for negativity), listenin to spoken word poetry, music (i don't discriminate), my country Kenya, photography, great surprises, spontaneity, peaceful moments, Public Health issues....people really need to open their eyes to the issues that are affecting the global society. We are all impacted one way or another.

I recieved my BS in Exercise Biology in 2006 from the University of California, Davis. While in college, i worked at a free student run clinic called Imani Clinic which targeted low-income African/ African Americans. I saw many individuals make critical decisions between seeking healthcare services and struggling to provide for their families; a decision no one should have to make. However, this decision is being made every single day in many places around the world where people have no choice because of diminished funds, limited resources, and lack of health education.

I worked for 2 yrs with the California Department of Public Health in the Sexually Transmitted Diseases branch. My main focus is in working with healthcare providers (doc's, nurses, labs) in making sure diseases are properly reported and patients are adequetly treated. In addtion, I also work in educating patients who test positive with STD's (i.e syphilis, HIV....) and partner notificationn, so as to get partners in for testing so as to stop the spread of disease.

I am currently in graduate school pursuing a Masters In Public Health with a double emphasis in Health Education/Promotion & Maternal Child Health. I am interested in working with youth, women and children. I want to be part of the larger network of individuals dedicated to saving lives and providing a better life to the present and future generations.
