About me
Nick is a consultant in social change communications and strategy and a partner at Make Believe. He was most recently Public Engagement Manager at Greenpeace Australia Pacific. In 2006/7 Nick was Online and Outreach Director at GetUp, new movement to revitalise Australian progressive politics.
In 2005-6, Nick spent fifteen months in London at Amnesty International where he coordinated development of a new global youth strategy for the organisation. Before Amnesty, Nick was Strategy and Partnership Coordinator at TakingITGlobal, an international network of more than 100,000 young leaders where he focused on building relationships with UN agencies, companies, governments, and local youth organizations to tackle major global issues. Nick remains an advisor to TakingITGlobal.
Nick has also been involved in global efforts to realize the potential of technology for development. He was previously Facilitator of the Youth Caucus for the first phase of the UN's World Summit on the Information Society, project managing activities across more than 20 countries. He co-produced a film "Global Voices, Local Visions" on that experience. Nick has been part of the Australian government delegation to the 2001 and 2003 UNESCO General Conferences as a member of the Australian National Commission for UNESCO, and served a term on the advisory council of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Nick is also the author of "Cyberscene: a teen traveller's guide to the web" (published by Penguin in 1999). He has has spoken at more than 60 conferences.
Presently he is also a member of the advisory board of SquareOne, an arts and media incubator in central Sydney, and a committee member of the Australian Youth Climate Change Coalition. Somewhere in between he enjoys an addiction to The West Wing, coffee, his ipod, cheap thai food, and instant messenger.
