About me
Hello Everyone,
I'm Samuel and I'm 28 years and 2010 would mark my 15th year of being involved in youth and community development. Throughout my few years in this world I have had the distinguished opportunity of working with several organisations all over the world. My very first involvement in community development was at the age of 12 when I joined the local Red Cross Cadet in Nigeria. We were involved in several projects in our community which ranged from providing first aid / emergency response, to helping with fixing roads and other "less interesting" activities. At 14, I became a youth leader with a local youth group and held various roles of responsibility both at school and otherwise. It was at this time I also became involved with HIV/AIDS awareness and had the opportunity to take part in several government sponsored programs to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.
When I was 16, I migrated to Trinidad and Tobago where I continued working with youth groups particularly within Faith-based organisations. I experienced development in a multicultural context and was able to apply skills gained in my past engagements to bring about successful endeavours. While at Trinidad, I studied for my first degree which was in Computer Science and Economics, during my program, i lost interest in Computer Science as I saw it as an area that too me farther away from what i aspired to, which is to work as an international development adviser. In 2005, I was elected to the position of Deputy National Director for the Trinidad and Tobago Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies Youth arm.
In 2006, I migrated to the UK and began a second degree in Law and Economics. I completed this degree in early 2009 (actually finished in 2008 but graduated in 2009) at which point I started working on setting up local youth groups focusing on different areas of youth development.
At present, I am one of the directors of a company based in Sheffield UK and I'm hoping to go back to school in september 2010 to complete the vocational part of my legal training.
