Peter F. Borges is currently Interim Regional Coordinator, Asia/Pacific for INERELA+. He has been working for past six in HIV/AIDS field and development sector.
Peter is anxious to meet the global community of activists who are involved in societal concerns around the globe through the platform of GYCA. He want to get into dialogue with them. He believes that GYCA will bring in fresh air of youth initiatives all over the world and
Peter have a proven record of developing innovative programmes and managing their implementation using exceptional analytical and strategic skills. He is the Assistant to the National Coordinator of the National Network on HIV/AIDS for the YMCAs in India. His responsibility includes writing grant proposals for DFID, European Commission and establishing partnerships with UN agencies.
Peter pioneered the formation of Maharashtra Positive Women Network under the patronage of YMCA with affiliation to Positive Women Network, Chennai.
He presented abstract on “Interfaith Initiatives on HIV/AIDS in Nagpur District” at the 8th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and Pacific at Colombo and also participated in the International Interfaith Pre-Conference on AIDS prior to 8th ICAAP at Colombo. He also participated in the 17th International Conference on AIDS in Mexico and presented an abstract.
Peter managed HIV programs of YMCA of care and support for PLHAs and children living with HIV. The program involved home based care, free legal aid, nutrition support, counseling support, etc.
Peter is also a member of Advocacy Working Group of UNAIDS Inter Agency Task Force on HIV and Young People.
Peter is now the Interim Regional Coordinator for INERELA+ for the region of Asia/Pacific
