About me
Living in a country coming from a brutal civil conflict I experience the conflict myself, I developed great interest in conflict transformation and peace building. In actualizing my interest I mobilized a group of war affected youths both victims and perpetrators to form a peace building music and dance drama group with the objective of positive conflict transformation from among themselves and communities affected by the war. This group became a catalyst for designing the way forward to ending the eleven years long civil conflict in Sierra Leone through the messages of peacebuilding and conflict transformation in the performances they put up country wide. The organization which I presently work with (Vision for the Blind) has been involved in rehabilitation and cancelling people who were blinded by the war so as to transform their minds and give them the kind of training in skills of their choice that they will need to make a new life, A project on which I play pivotal role.
In strengthening my peace building career I read two peacebuilding modules in my undergraduate studies at the University. (1) Introduction to peace studies (2) introduction to conflict studies As a peace building and conflict transformation advocate in post conflict Sierra Leone I personally expect that this peace building course will widening my knowledge which I will use to write a better peace building articles and organize peace building activities in post conflict Sierra Leone as the country moves towards her forthcoming general and local councils elections on 17th November 2012 With my passion in advocating for the rights and privileges of persons with disabilities, I have great interest in this field. Taking into consideration the high level of social exclusion and marginalization for persons with disability in Sierra Leone of which I am a victim, I have committed my entire life to leading a campaign for the rights and privileges for people with disability in Sierra Leone which manifest itself in the work I do for Vision for the Blind. As a disability activist I have been involved in setting-up a charity (disable peoples’ organization) called vision for the blind. Vision for the blind has a mission which seeks to promote the interest of blind and impaired persons in Sierra Leone through its thematic areas of operation which includes service provision, advocacy and sensitization/lobbying for the rights of persons with disability. As a disable person myself (Blind) I went through a very difficult path in acquiring education and social status as a whole. It is from this backdrop that I initiated the idea of forming a disable people’s organization because I was with the opinion that other blind and visual impaired people are even going through worse experiences and will therefore need somebody or organization to salvage this ugly situation. Hence the establishment of Vision for the Blind. On the establishment of vision for the blind. At the moment even as the days get closer to Election Day
