About me
A native of Albania, I have strong interest in conflict resolution and peace education in the Balkans. I am both a practitioner and an academic in these fields. After studying in political science in the American University in Bulgaria and peace studies in the University of Notre Dame in the US, I came back to Albania to contribute to peace and development in my country. I am a strong advocate of building peace in the Balkans through people to people exchanges, rather than the top down approaches that have often failed.
Currently, I am working as a National Project Coordinator for the joint project between UN Department for Disarmament Affairs and Hague Appeal for Peace on “Peace and Disarmament Education to Disarm Children and Youth” (www.peace.undp.org.al). I am also Civic Education Project Fellow at the University of Tirana, promoting civic education values through teaching in the Faculty of Social Sciences for the past year. I currently serve as the National Focal Point for the The Balkan Regional Conference on Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding leading to the international conference at the United Nations on “The Role of Civil Society in the Prevention of Armed Conflict”. Earlier I was the In-country-project partner for the joint project between UN Department for Disarmament Affairs and Hague Appeal for Peace on “Developing Peace and Disarmament Education Initiatives to Disarm Children and Youth”, the needs-assessment project upon which the current project was created. I am also a Junior Faculty Lecturer at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences.
