About me
Freelance & commission artist Michelle Durell sells original custom artwork and teaches private art classes.
A home-based visual art studio has been my dream for many years...
After discovering a personal affinity for the arts through an inspirational middle years educator, I developed my artistic skills throughout secondary and post-secondary classes. As a hobby over the years, I've taken on projects in my spare time for family, friends, public organizations, and my own personal enjoyment ranging from small canvases to wall murals.
From 2005 - 2008, I studied painting and drawing through the University of Saskatchewan's Fine Art department. 2009 - 2010 at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Education were years dedicated to developing my ability to teach the Visual Arts to others, resulting in a B.Ed with honors majoring in art.
In August 2011, I finally dedicated my heart's desire to produce more art and share it with others; thus, Durell Studio was born.
Working out of my home, I create my own original artwork inspired by, but not limited to, nature and the human experience. Primarily working with acrylic paint on canvas, I also dabble in other mediums such as pastel, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, and colored pencil.
Accredited to teach fine art, I welcome beginning and experienced artists to explore their creativity through private art lessons with me.
