Olowu Adebowale Lawrence, one of Nigeria’s young entrepreneur and publisher, who had published three different magazines and have carved a niche for himself in the publishing industry, started publishing at the age of 16. Debour Special, as he is popularly called, has become a household name in the area were he resides and among the young people- most especially students.
The third of four children, Olowu Adebowale Lawrence was born on September 30 to Abiodun and Funmilayo Olowu in Oshodi- Lagos, a city that never sleep- the commercial heart of the nation, the first city you will see when you arrived at Nigeria.
Surrounded by books in his childhood, Debour Special grew up with a love not only for creative thinking but also for reading. He started writing motivational articles at the age of fifteen, at sixteen published a life- changing magazine that he called Builders’ World.
Born a natural leader, Debour Special leadership ability can be easily observed. While he was in secondary school, he was the senior prefect boy (Head boy), the president of the Junior Engineer Technicians and Scientist (JETS CLUB) - both in his school and at the zonal level, and continued his leadership streak as the Director General of the Intellectual Builders Organization, the Academic Director of Babs Educational Consultant, and the Chairman- CEO of Debour Special Enterprise.
Consumed with the passion of transforming the Educational sector of the nation, Debour Special has been organizing several annual secondary school competitions for the past five years. He had organized Battle of Titans competition (for science, commercial, and Art students), Battle of Brains competition (for science students), Builders special competition (for both junior and senior secondary school students), and Biology Nawa competition (A Biology competition). He is also part of the Group that organized Logic Annul Mathematics competition.
Being the publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Builders’ World Magazine, Excellent School Life Magazine, and Smart Kids Magazine, Debour Special plans to publish a book that will help young people that have creative ideas but don’t know how to go about it or start it. This book he titles Overcoming inertia will be publish in 2009.His principal recreation are football and playing games.
