About me
My interest in the last two years has been to find an answer to the question whether I will be able to live my dream of establishing a link between my adopted country Canada and my birthplace, the Philippines. I was a secondary school teacher in the Division of City Schools, Manila before I left for Canada in 1989. During my teaching career it had always been a great pleasure for me to be able to lend a time to get involve in the schools' community project through Parents,Community and Teachers Association. The target?... Our youth! Our youth!... Fund raising events, Summer Outreach Program and the like... we got them accomplished.
In the last two years I have been travelling back and forth Canada and the Philippines, after spending almost 16 years living outside the Philippines and still hoping to reconnect with my long lost career by continuing taking my graduate course ( Educational Management),because in my own estimate this is the only way I can re-establish, and reactivate my committment to our youth.
Recently, my brothers and I acquired an existing computer shop in the Philippines. Our goal is to turn this i-cafe into a learning centre to provide more time and space for students to finish their projects, reports, research and the like. Its like a help- yourself place where teaching and learning takes place among customers themselves. Teamwork rather than competition is at work here. I will be very happy if I will find this place reached those who can't really afford to buy time to use a facility like this. I would welcome ideas to keep me on track with my goal. Thank you very much for taking your time reading my thought.
