A multi-awarded playwright, Abel has been working as Case Worker and Family Services Coordinator at Little City Foundation for 21 years. Abel is registered as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) by the Illinois Department of Human Services. Besides being a role model, Abel always finds innovative ways in dealing with people with disabilities and has a huge impact on the families he works with. He was awarded a certificate of achievement for exemplary contribution to enriching the lives of people with Developmental Disabilities. His feat was recognized as extraordinary by the organization he works with, the same citations given by the Illinois Chapter of the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR). He received a Parchment Copy of the 108th Congressional Record of the United States of America Vol. 149 in which his achievement has been permanently entered by Senator Richard Durbin addressed to the President of the United States. Abel immigrated to the US in 1999 and is now a US Citizen. A major in psychology, Abel was accredited with a Bachelor's Degree by the World Education Services in New York. Abel is also a noted poet, film scriptwriter, and production designer in the Philippine cinema. He was a National Fellow of the University of the Philippines ' 1993 Creative Writing. A two-time grand prize winner of the Palanca Awards in playwriting, the country's most prestigious and highest literary benchmark equivalent to Pulitzer's Prize. He has worked with the country's finest film directors and award-winning actors on stage, on TV, and in films. Abel has established his name as one of the most respected contemporary writers in his country, most of his works dealing with a psychological punch. His winning works have been produced and staged at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Philippine Int'l. Convention Center (PICC). He is currently the CEO of Arte Entertainment of Chicago.
