About me
As individuals, humans might not really know exactly where they come from, nor who they really are. The human race does not really know much more about its own species, save the fact that our collective heritage came "Out of Africa" not even a hundred thousand years ago. This is a rather short length of time, considering that life emerged on Earth three and half billion years ago! Even though that primitive single cell form of life was anatomically far related to our present "sapient" state of affairs, it is nonetheless unequivocal that this primal life force was "intelligent" enough to survive and soundly evolve into our actual biological construct.
But can the same be said about our human psyche? If humanity can at least vaguely acknowledge for its potential for inbred survival, why is there a generally shared sense that at its most evolved and developed stage to date, the human species appears doomed by its own hand. In a state of unparalleled chance at universal consciousness, humans remain rather oblivious to many of the recent political, social, ideological, ecological, and personal pitfalls.
Despite a slow popular awakening to some of today's handmade perils - most of which only still happens with some strength and voice at a very personal, deinstitutionalized level (the awakening, that is) - most of the prevailing planetary crises are still fueled by our "heads": of states, of banks, of corporations, of bodies. All of it in the servile name of self driven power and self centered profit!
It's time to remodel the "heads" into "minds"; to reconcile brain and heart. So even if humans might not be too sure of their origin and evolution, they for sure have a long proven intrinsic sense for survival. If the past still escapes us, let's make sure our future won't. Let's not warrant our disembodied and disconnected heads to exterminate our bodies from the face of the Earth just yet. None but ourselves can mourn our disappearance!
Think. Reflect. Discuss. Voice your opinion. Take action. Influence. Educate: yourself, then others.
Raise consciousness. Slow down. Halt needless consumption. Unplug. Notice. Sense the sound and presence of what appears silent and absent.
It might be time, as the musician and poet John Cage once said, “[to enter] an anechoic chamber […] to discover […] one’s own […] nerve’s systematic operation [and] blood’s circulation”. (John Cage, Silence, “Experimental Music: Doctrine”)
