About me
I am a Muslimah who wants to listen to what women have to say about their lives. As a Muslimah, I have seen intolerance and hatred seep in from all facets of society, but I do not believe it has to be this way.
I am not try to change the world in the blink of an eye, but I believe that there are many voices that are muffled, or simply silence based on differences in our communities.
I have worked in the social service, legal and educational sector over a period of 10 years (at least).
Peace inspires me. Thus, anything that leads to understanding, compassion, a love for community on a small scale, and a deep love for humanity on a larger scale can ultimately lead to peace.
I am dedicated to women's issues from the community to the global arena. I think that the best way to create a dialogue that will have long-lasting effects is to speak and listen simultaneously.
I created The Sole Sisters Collective as a draw-bridge between cultural, and religious diversity and tolerance.
After losing my infant son at birth, I am also interested in Maternal health and infant mortality, and how different women cope with grief.
As my project grows, I intend to raise awareness of maternal health and infant mortality in "developing" countries.
