About me
I started the Arctic Youth Network back in 2005 with the idea that there are many common issues among youth across the Circumpolar North. There are huge gaps in sharing between indigenous and non-indigenous populations and youth have a very small voice in public policy making. Some of us feel isolated, confused by a new way of life, lured by alcohol and drugs to pass the time in small towns, depressed, separated from family for school and other reasons, etc.
But, if we have a reason to come together, to share with each other and to try and make a difference in our communities we will begin to see a world we want to live in, even if its just in our little piece of home.
The Arctic Youth Network is waiting right now for an infusion of energy, new ideas, and new purpose. In the meantime, I'm working hard here in my community of Whitehorse to involve youth in politics and policy, to move energy development forward with a focus on renewables, and to create opportunities for young people to do cool stuff that keeps us active, happy, and drug free.
