About me
My name is Laura Penaranda; I am a high school senior and human rights activist. I was born in Colombia, live in Washington DC, and will be spending my senior year in Jordan. My activist interests lie in the Colombian Armed Conflict, Landmines, and the International Rights of Women and Indigenous populations.

School Information:
Located in Washington, DC, SEGL is a selective, semester-long (up to one year for international students) residential program for a diverse group of 20 intellectually motivated high school juniors and seniors from across the United States and abroad. The program selects students who have shown outstanding character, promise for leadership, and scholastic ability and provides them with a unique curriculum that emphasizes ethical thinking, leadership development, and international affairs. The mission of the school is to provide said students with the best possible opportunity to shape themselves into ethical leaders who will create positive change in our world.
