About me
Hello, my name is Casey Jones, and I am extremely excited to become a member of this global community!!! I want to learn absolutely everything I can about other cultures, countries, etc. I’ve always wanted to be an exchange student, but those desires have intensified in recent years. There is just something intriguing about hearing and speaking different
languages and observing a new culture that kindles my interest. This is probably because my school places much emphasis on international cooperation and has hosted several students from countries like Brazil, Sweden, Germany, Guatemala, and Pakistan. I want to have the same experiences as they.
I call the United States of America my home. The town where I live in the state of West Virginia isn’t very large, but I love it. There are many hills and valleys here, so the area is prone to flooding, especially in spring. When I have time away from school, my activities usually consist of homework, community service, and other school-related activities. However, when I’m not doing those things, my friends and I like to see plays and movies. We also like to go shopping. I have a job at a grocery store, and I work there when I don’t have classes.
I also write for my local newspaper. I love to read as well as write. I have a natural passion for music, and I like to play guitar (even though I’m not very talented). My life is rather typical. During the week, I wake up in the morning before the sun rises, eat breakfast with my family, and ride the bus to school. At school I study hard and make good grades.
I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with my life after high school. However, I am quite positive that I will be attending either Marshall University in my state or Berea College in Kentucky. While at either of these institutions, I want to continue studying Spanish in addition to several other languages. My plan is to become a linguist so that I can travel the world, help people, and maintain a decent salary at the same time. Though I want to be a linguist, I would also like to join the Peace Corps for a period so that I can bring charitable aid to impoverished areas.
One of my rash, yet attainable, self-imposed goals is to continue with my Spanish and learn at least Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, German, Romanian, and Ethiopian before I die. However, I plan to learn many, many more languages. In addition to all of these other objectives, I want to write novels- fictional ones as well as ones about my travels. Though my plans may seem irrational, I am certain that I can achieve all of them, and more.
