Sobre Mí

My name is Erica Edwards, I am 18 and I am going on a volunteer trip to help people in need in Costa Rica with a program called Youth Challenge International. They help people from all over the world, in places like: Tanzania, Ethiopia, Costa Rica…etc. I could be doing things such as constructing buildings, pathways, encouraging and endorsing young woman’s empowerment in Costa Rica…etc.

I have always enjoyed, and wanted to help people less fortunate than myself. Going to Costa Rica would enable me to help these people in need, as well as gain experience.

Helping others is something I have always been interested in and this project is the perfect way to do so. I believe that I could truly make a difference and benefit others lives. I will work very hard on any project that I get placed on no matter the difficulty.

This program will really help me with my future because I'm going to college to become a community worker. I hope to learn some spanish before I leave so that I can interact with the people there and get to know their way of life.

I havn't done much travelling so this will really be an eye opener for me, I hope to get a lot of life experience from this by seeing how other people live life each day.

I have volunteered at two retirement centres and I always made the people I worked with smile. I took the time to get to know them all individually really enjoyed hearing about their life story and they enjoyed having someone to talk to. I also have a lot of experience with children. I have 4 sisters, 1 brother, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. I really enjoy having children around me.

My true love is animals...especially dogs!!
I have also done a co-op placement at a veterinary office. I helped them prepare for surgerys, clean up, and keep the animals happy. I believe that all of my volunteer work will really help me while I am in Costa Rica. I think that this trip is a great way to learn more about the world and gain life experience.
