(Despite my degree scheme of being just “International Relations and Politics”, I am also currently enrolled in European Union Law, Sociology, and Economics courses.) I started to travel on my own at the age of 14, when my parents were unable to go back to Thailand with me for the summer. The excitement of my first glimpse of independence had me eager for more. After having watched the movie “Winning London”, I gave MUN a chance in secretly hoping that it will enable me to travel the world, too. At the age of 16, that chance came along with a name of “THIMUN”. With my school, I travelled to The Hague for a week long MUN conference. The end of the conference left me in tears, a life-long bestfriend, and memories I still cherish. In 2007, I came back to The Hague as a participant of THIMUN Youth Assembly, in HIV and AIDS committee. There, I was inspired by the extraordinary works build up together by young people just like me. I was an ambassador for THIMUN Youth Network and had a chance to go around sharing with people of the conference I love. I returned back in that same year as the coordinator of HIV and AIDS committee and the THIMUN Youth Network team. After the conference, I went on a month-long backpacking trip around 6 countries in Western Europe on my own- a week of which I spent studying a summer course in Economics at Emmanuel College of Cambridge University. It was also at the age of 16, when I wrote a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and initiated the United Nations Youth Delegation Programme. Later in 2008, I was asked to be the first Youth Delegate of Thailand to the United Nations General Assembly. Along with the delegation from Thailand’s government, I spent a month working in the United Nations headquarter in New York. After my return to Shanghai, I’ve been working with my colleagues in Thailand in trying to build up the United Nations Youth Association of Thailand. I, then, got a chance to travel around to Indonesia for the International Youth Forum, and to many schools in Bangkok, to promote Youth Involvement. Before moving out of China, I travelled with my friends, to a rural village in the Guizhou Province. After a day of bus ride from the city centre, another couple hours out of a town, and 4 hours hike into the mountains, we reached a little village called “Wugao” which we spent a week building a running water system so that they have access to water. We also taught children of the village English language and help build them a basketball court. Returning back to Shanghai, I then become involve in teaching English and basketball to the children of illegal immigrants in Shanghai, who are denied education and health care. As a proud owner of an SLR camera, I travel and take photos of the new places and people (and occasionally found myself trying plenty of new food). I enjoy learning about cultures and traditions of different places, and with an open mind, I am eager to try something new. I enjoy reading books, hanging out with my friends and a good sunny day.
