LIFE HISTORY

Love & protest word smith (poet)

Born on the 5th of Feb. 1982 in Mberengwa southwest of Zimbabwe. I am the second son of Rev. Dr. A.Moyo, with 4 loving sisters. The pride of a Zulu woman of royal & artistic ancestry from the heart of Kwazulu Natale in South Africa I am prude to call “Mai” (mother)

“ Difficultly educated” at 9 schools up to high school 1 in Bikita, 2 in California USA, 1 in Chitungwiza, 3 in Harare, 2 in Mberengwa. Having been exposed to a vast rang of social set-ups I strive comprehend how Man relates to nature and, his own kind. I then reflect this in my works and my quest to speak for the silenced and the voice less.

I coin most poems with strong symbolism and metaphor form my day to day life. I normally write spontaneously as an out barest to chronicle the small and big things that move me. To avoid killing the sense and effect of my work by trying to rhyme, most of my work is free verse. It normally reflects a paradox of love and resistance and a message of hope. I try to raise awareness and spark dialogue on social ills and all other forms of oppression and stereotypes through satire. Without ever compromising the gravity or sensitivity of our contemporary issues like HIV and AIDS of which I have become a passionate activist.

Even though I write on just about anything, I perceive myself as a love and protest poet. For I believe “love concurs all” and should be the foundation of any straggle.

POEM TITLED: I!
As I age I bloom with rage!
As I change I now see thy cage!
As I turn the page I know read its edge!

HISTORY IN PERFORMANCE POETRY

OTHER THINGS I DO

British council movers & shakers
I am part of the British council youth programme dubbed movers & shakers a fellowship of young leaders which started on the 14th of October 2006

JCI Member
I am an active member an of the Harare Chapter of Junior Chambers International JCI in Zimbabwe since May 2005.JCI has groomed me to become an etiquette professional with sharp entrepreneurship silks such as how to start & run a project.

JCI is the largest youth empowerment organisation in the world. It is in over 120 countries worldwide and sits in the NU general assembly.

COSV sustained dialogue
I am part of the Harare youth empowerment process named sustained dialogue from October 2004 to date. Through this process I have acquired skills like initiating dialogue in conflict situations, moderating discussions, team building, and report writing. The sustained dialogue has also made trumenuds impact to me as a person. It has made me tolerant to other people’s views and as well as help others do the same.

We work in teams and our team chose to work on two of the most challenging issues affecting youth, i.e. unemployment and HIV&AIDS we will engage the last stage of the sustained dialogue’s theory of change, which is “the leaders change their communities”

Sustained dialogue is an initiate by COSV an Italian NGO to equip young people with conflict resolution skills and capacity build them to identify and address their challenges. The process was handed over to local NGO called CCM. The efficiency of this project is now being compromised by the over starched rescuers in the expansion of the project to other areas.

Couching basketball
I have a passion for working with young people so I have been couching basketball for 3 years now at Admiral Tait School

Choreography
I am training to be a choreographer so as to train the young artists I co-ordinate and use it in my poetry to compliment the effect of my work. I call my work visual-vocals i.e. Words you see. As highlighted in poem below.

POEM TITLED: BOOK CAFÉ

I speak not but spit snot

I speak not visual-vocals in void
…..But 2 evoke thy psyche

Utter not hollow heart bit whispers
Breath out immortal echoes to fuel empty tankers
4 we must lampoon that baboon low with its high tennis courts

In deep ink I print my blistered body
The de-caff in the Book Café decolonised my coffee-pot
Illiterate me can now Braille the author’s palm and comprehend. …
I read the rainbow so need not my plastic coat for his rain is dry and over
