He works at the Global University Network for Innovation's Observatory on Universities and Social Commitment. He has a Degree in Computer Science, postgraduate studies in Software Engineering and has a Master's Degree in Design and Development of Interactive Multimedia Applications. He was involved in the implementation of the electronic voting system in Brazil, his home country, and has been working for a variety of non-profit organisations since 1995 and has been engaged in a number of interdisciplinary and intercultural projects in the field of development aid.

He is currently enrolled in a doctoral programme at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and his thesis deals with the relationship between Higher Education, ICT and the non-profit sector. In addition he has been taking part in various courses and post-graduate lectures about the relationship between the third sector, government and higher education institutions; fair trade; and international relations.
