About Me

I have recently finished my double major in Political Science and Sociology at the University of British Columbia. My research interests involve ethnic conflicts, migration, integration, the rise of right wing governments, and intolerance and racism due to these issues. I had the opportunity to spend my study exchange from 2001-2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark- during a time of historic changes to the government, beliefs of the people, and reputation of the country. Recently I presented a paper on these issues at a Political Science Undergraduate Research Conference in Houston, Texas. While Director for UNESCO at the Canadian International Model UN in Ottawa I prepared a backgrounded on international migration rights. I also recently had a paper on these issues published in UBC's Undergraduate Canadian Studies Journal. I have been actively involved in Model United Nations in Canada and the U.S. as a delegate and on the secretariat. In my current position is as the Model UN Provincial Representative in B.C. for the United Nation’s Association in Canada I have initiated many improvements in the MUN programme. I have been very active at UBC and in the Vancouver community through playing rugby for UBC, sorority, and UBC International Student Orientation Coordinator for the largest international student orienation in Canada. Presently I am volunteering with organizations such as the Immigrant Service Society of BC and am a mentee in the "Leaders of Tomorrow" program at the Vancouver Board of Trade. My interest in non- profit organizations, international issues, community service, clubs, sports and volunteerism are part of my service as a global citizen. In the future I plan to complete a Master's degree in Europe in migration and comparative public policy.
