About me
Svitlana was born and raised in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, where she completed a B.A. in Russian and Ukrainian languages and received a Teaching Certificate. In 1996 she participated in Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Program as an intern in the Canadian Parliament.
In 1998, Svitlana was awarded a prestigious Edmund Muskie Fellowship from the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation that allowed her to complete Master's degree in Educational Administration in the USA. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctoral degree in Education at York Univeristy and a Graduate Diploma in German and European Studies.
Additionally, Svitlana completed courses at several European universities and received certificates in International Development (University of Oslo, Norway), Gender and Globalization (University of Helsinki, Finland) and Refugee Studies (York University, Canada). In 2002, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Academy for Migration Studies, Aalborg, Denmark.
Svitlana's interests include international/global education, youth cultures, post-socialist societies, and international migration. She presented her scholarly work at several Canadian and international conferences and co-authored several publications.
Currently Svitlana works at TakingITGlobal as Regional Coordinator, CIS & Eastern Europe.
