OpenmindProjects – from one project to 60

In 2001 OpenmindProjects pioneered computer training in poor Thai villages to see how poor children could get a chance to learn to use computers and to learn other subjects too with the help of computers.

In 2002 OpenmindProjects later pioneered volunteer projects in poor Thai schools by inviting volunteers to teach in remote villages.

In 2004 OpenmindProjects started supporting community based Eco tourism projects in Laos and Thailand.

In 2004 OpenmindProjects started projects in South Thailand. December 26, 2004, the tsunami hit these regions. OpenmindProjects was one of the first organizations to have volunteers at local tsunami hit schools.

OpenmindProjects is an NGO, a private aid organization focused on education and environment. International volunteers is a highly valuable source of support to local projects. We believe knowledge is the best gift to young people!

OpenmindProjects encourages the D.E.D. approach, Demonstrate what a computer can do and then let the students Explore and Discover (learn) by themselves. This approach requires less teaching resources but more time with the computer. Learning English by talking and listening with volunteers is the favored approach to teaching English.

Since 2001 OpenmindProjects has been able to support some 60 schools, orphanages, national parks and villages in Thailand and Laos and later in 2007 OpenmindProjects will start up in Nepal and Cambodia. OpenmindProjects has been invited to many countries but takes a step by step approach, learning by doing!

With limited resources the only feasible way to reach volunteers overseas is via the Internet, so OpenmindProjects invite volunteers to participate in its projects, allowing for an expansion to new places, new schools, supporting more people, more nature.

All volunteers get extensive Online Information and a free 3 day intense, fun and practical volunteer training before they start their volunteer work.
