About Me |
Sven Mauleon was born and raised in Sweden but spent most of his professional career abroad after his M.B.A., civilekonom, in Sweden His first formative years in London, working for the then leading international ICT company, Xerox. He spent much time as an international management consultant in Western Europe, mainly Scandinavia, France and Germany.
Sven Mauleon was one of the first international consultants to be invited to work in Eastern Europe during the historic transformation from communism to democracy and market economy. 1987- 89 he worked in Hungary where the iron curtain or rather barbed wire was first to fall. In the early 1990s he worked in Poland heading an international and Polish consultant team,invited by the Polish government and with a mission to guide Polish enterprises from central planning to a market oriented economy. Later in the 1990s he was commissioned by the UN, UNIDO, to head a similar mission in Russia, Kaliningrad. He also worked in the Baltic republics with similar missions.
1988 he was invited to lecture at a pioneer and successful Masters in Marketing program at the Thammasath University, Bangkok, Thailand, where he designed the first strategy and international marketing courses.
In the late 1990s he worked in Bruxelles, Belgium as head of a European consulting firm designing and supporting cross European cooperation projects.
2001 he set up the first computer training programs in Thailand and in 2002 he founded OpenmindProjects inviting international volunteers to participate in the increasing number of projects supported by OpenmindProjects in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal.
OpenmindProjects has been recognized by UNESCO, recommended by CNN, Lonely Planet, and a finalist in the Stockholm Challenge Award for outstanding ICT for development projects.
