 About Me |
I worked from February 2005 to December 2008 in India. While there I worked on HIV/AIDS prevention projects and most recently a rural health project utilizing the World Health Organizations (WHO) Health Promoting School Model. On the Rural Health project I was responsible for fundraising, design and implemenation of a comprehensive school health model. We started a round the clock school –based health center, employing 2 nurses to provide preventive services and medical treatment to over 500 vulnerable students and school and farm staff at the boarding school located 3 hours north of Mumbai. This project included addressing sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition for the students, clean water facilities at the school and the psychosocial health of students and staff.
Prior to living and working in India I was in Portland Oregon working for Oregon Department of Human Services. I managed projects addressing cardiovascular disease, obesity prevention, and adolescent health for 2 and a ½ years. I am a Master’s level graduate in Public Health, receiving my MPH from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in May 2002.
