The medium of my life and career has been photography. I began in the private sector focused on visual concepts and selling a product—providing images for advertising, publications and international news agencies. In my search for a broader understanding of the possibilities of the medium, I discovered photo editing, editorial, private commissions, photo researching and consulting. These opportunities afforded me a greater understanding of not only the aesthetic involved in image making but introduced me to the idea of media management.
Something about photography compels us to organize and categorize raising the question "What is a photographer?" Is he merely someone who peers through a lens? Is he not also charged with arranging and manipulating his information? The aspect of editing along with my interest in news, culture and international affairs led me to photojournalism as an editor of photography.
Technology has changed the way we communicate in the developed world. And, now is an opportune time to assess how technology can help and improve communications and access to information in underdeveloped countries.
Having spent time at the United Nations during the last two years as well as working with the India China Institute has given me the desire to combine my experience and talent with new technologies to advance my personal evaluation of history, culture and media.
