About Me   About Me
Welcome to my profile page,
This is me, salma zaky, a young female Human Rights & HIV activist from Egypt. The country of ancient civilization , Giza pyramid complex and Great Sphinx.
I’ve been involved in the work for HIV and Human Rights since I was 18 when I joined GYCA Egypt, we were one of the very few youth-led initiatives working on HIV awareness in Egypt targeting young people in slums and those out of reach mainly as well as young females and marginalized groups, combining a rich variety of young leaders with different backgrounds and motives to work for HIV.
It was of much value the work GYCA Egypt ran for the past four years, advocating for HIV and calling for more attention and support to people living with HIV, spreading knowledge among most at risk populations, and connecting different entities (NGOs, governmental bodies and Stakeholders) for the support of HIV.
Along side to my work for the ministry of family and population in the Anti-Trafficking Unit that works on many different Reproductive Health issues in Egypt which added a lot to my knowledge and experience, I’ve participated in many local, regional and international conferences, events and conferences which were mostly about Human Rights, Marginalized Groups and HIV/AIDS. As well as courses on Management, Advocacy, Media Tools, youth mobilization …
It is not of much difference the situation in other countries in MENA Region, HIV/AIDS problem. So, I hope as GYCA regional focal point for 2011 to be able to widen GYCA network all around the region and to keep the good work and connectivity among the recent network.
I hope also to see many similar regional or international youth-led initiatives targeting Human and Reproductive Rights and Health and focusing more on HIV/AIDS problem.
Lastly, I’d like to thank you if you had the time to read the above however I dislike the long introductions, and also invite you to be a friend of mine. I am married and I have a babe girl, I like exercising, swimming, travelling, and playing piano, and always happy to get new friends 
