Over Mij

Rebecca has been with The Glocal Forum teams since April 2007. Ms. Neilson was initially hired to coordinate the health and nutrition projects and was promoted to the position of Director of Human Development and Youth Department in January 2008. In this role she overlooks and manages the health, nutrition and agriculture, and youth programs.

Rebecca has been involved in youth activities for many years: first as a high school teacher and now as a director of an international youth program (Glocal Youth Parliament), which spans a network of over 220 youth, 78 cities and five continents.

Rebecca has lived 3 years in Ghana, West Africa teaching science and chemistry to high school students and instigating various youth-orientated initiatives such as the Gender and Youth Development (GYD) for two years. In her third year in Ghana she collaborated with Planned Parenthood of Ghana to work within its teen clinic in Kumasi. She has also spent 6 months in Loja, Ecuador and spent one year traveling the world.

Rebecca has a Masters from the University of Michigan's School of Public Health and a Bachelors of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington.
