About Me |
I am the capacity-building Program Officer at the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA). In this role, I focus most of my time on facilitating the E-course program at GYCA, while assisting with the Small Grants program and a variety of others projects and opportunities with GYCA.
I have a long history of working on youth issues. Before coming to GYCA, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Vera Institute of Justice. I was part of a team that explored issues regarding the enrollment of New York City foster children in clinical trials for pediatric AIDS treatment during the late 1980’s and 90’s. Prior to this, I held the position of Program Coordinator at iMentor, a youth e-mentoring program based in New York City. Additionally, I was a founding member, and currently serve on the Board of Directors, of Girls International Forum (GIF), a non-profit organization that works to inspire and empower girls to be active globally in changing policies that affect them. For the past several years, I have served as a Woman Mentor Leader with GIF, mentoring GIF's leadership team of girls from the U.S. and Canada, and serving as a resource for the women mentors of GIF's international teams.
Graduating from Swarthmore College in 2006, I majored in psychology, and held several leadership positions, including serving on the board of the Women's Resource Center and as a Resident Assistant for first-year students. Spending time working with girls in South Africa, Jamaica, and several international teams of girls during GIF’s International Girls Summit in 2006, I developed my passion for guiding youth towards taking an active role in changing their communities and the world.
