I am a student majoring in Biological medicine, in hopes to one day become a neurosurgeon and work for Doctors without borders. Even though medicine is my chosen career my interests revolve around Latin American history, social and political change through education. I am an advocate volunteer in the Spanish speaking community in Toronto, and believe strongly that through education and understanding of social and culture differences a more effective stronger world will emerge.Ecuador was my home for six years, and travel back frequently as I am involved in English based teaching. I recently travelled to El Salvador where I volunteered and taught English using popular education, integrating social justice themes into the classroom. I am currently, a volunteer tutor in English and History for children and youth in the Ecuadorian community in Toronto, through this organization I have run safe sex, popular education, and leadership seminars. I have also recently become an iEARN Mentor, and super excited for the iEARN International Conference & Youth Summit 2010. Through all my volunteer experiences I advocate social change through education. Volunteering has shaped the way I view the world and the modo I live by: "The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity." Peace and Love
