About me
Hi there,
My name is Robert Dart, a teacher at Warrnambool College in Victoria, Australia.
I am passionate about going global in both action and thinking and making a real difference to people and the environment beyond my own community.
The thing that bothers me most in our world is the way that organisations such as the World Trade Organisation, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which have the potential to do so much to help the world, seem to fail miserably after every conference.
I am particularly committed to protecting rainforests around the world, not only for their beauty and the habitat they provide, but the important role they play in absorbing the carbon we burn, and preventing it being pumped into the atmosphere.
I try to provide my students with the opportunity to not only learn about communities beyond out borders and the challenges they face, but also encourage my students to make an active commitment to support these communities. They either do this through promotion of their research, by fundraising or collating resources to be sent to the communities they choose to support.
Finally, I acknowledge the existence, hardships and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders since white settlement in my country. I pledge to learn more of their plight for recognition and respect and encourage effective and authentic reconciliation. I will endeavour to accurately and respectfully share the stories of Australia's indigenous communities, in my classroom and beyond.
