Many people want to change the world but just a few of us realise the need for change ourselves.

I am Raja Reza Fahlevi, 20 years old from Riau, Indonesia. I’m now a student of the Undergraduate Programme of Oleochemistry in The National University of Malaysia.

I am an active, cheerful youngster who is optimistic, sociable and someone who loves a challenge. I also love the arts. I love singing and writing. I got some accomplishments upon them.

So far, I've chosen as delegate of Indonesia and Malaysia to join ASEAN Theater Festival on December 2008 at Singapore. I have won an International Poetry Reading Competition held in 2009, Malaysia. I was also invited for a ‘syair’ (Malay poetry) performance at the International Malay Oratory Competition. I represented University to National Malay Poetry Competition 2009. I have also participated in the recent Youth Engagement Summit 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At this event which brought together 500 youths from Southeast Asia, I got to meet my peers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei and Singapore. We had the privilege of listening to speakers such as Gary Kasparov, Bob Geldof, Donald Trump, Nando Parrado, Biz Stone and David Magliano.

Everything starts from small things, from the little actions that then builds on momentum Since I was in third grade of primary school, I started to believe that participating in extra-curricular activities would help me develop my talent and explore my personality. I also like to share what I know. Today, I visit villages to teach English, science, traditional art and culture to junior high school students. I contently visit poor estates to teach uneconomic children. I am also interested in learning foreign languages, even though I am majoring in science. I speak French and Japanese as well as provide free English and basic French lessons to my colleagues and juniors at university. Nothing feels better than giving, right?

In University, I now assume the role as the Internal Secretary of Indonesia’s Student Association, International Division of Theater Club and President of Indonesia’s Student Community. I am aware that as an international student, it gives me the chance to promote my country's cultural existence. That is why I try to preserve my own traditional culture by bringing them to university or wherever I go. Now, I am managing my own art group that is focused on contemporary creative and traditional dances. Through our efforts, we have produced several international shows with other students from around the world.

I also emphasize and highlight issues of health management, global warming and constantly encourage youths to be involved in the arts and culture.
