 About Me |
Kevin Bracken, originally from Long Island, New York, plans to move to Canada soon to attend university. During his high school career, Kevin has been involved in a number of community activist/advocacy projects.
With his passion for harm reduction, Kevin has been a volunteer for DanceSafe NYC since the spring of 2003. He believes this is his way to give back to the rave community that has been his home for years. His love for partying and jungle music keep him up for days, but he doesn't sleep because sleep is the cousin of death.
Participating in GLBTQ activism, Kevin founded a Gay-Straight Alliance in his high school. Their most notable success is the Safe Space campaign, modeled after similar programs in many North American universities: rainbow triangle stickers can be seen in dozens of public spaces throughout Cold Spring Harbor High School's campus.
Kevin is highly trained and skilled in computer work and web design. He has been employed by LKF Partners Ltd., a Huntington, NY-based insurance agency, for 3 years as the head IT Coordinator. He designs websites and graphics, as well as performs on-site computer repairs, as part of his freelance computer service.
He hopes to continue his public interest work and to participate in social justice and health projects to help create a progressive, future-minded society. He also looks forward to any future opportunity to refer to himself in the third person. :)
