Piotr Uhma - born on 16 December 1978 in Katowice, Poland.

Completed Grammar and Secondary Music School in Katowice. Law student in the Law School of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Currently prepares to write the final dissertation in Public International Law.

An active member and leader of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP), where he has worked on the regional and than national level. Has served as the spokesman of the Regional Executive Committee of the Silesia Region, and than in the International Relations Department of the ZHP Headquarters in Warsaw. Since April 1999 the Office Manager and the Chief Executive Assistant to the Secretary of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU), which is an international network of Members of Parliaments interested in promoting educational issues.

President, Foundation for Polish Scouting, aimed at financial support for scout troops and units in Poland.

Took part in various international conferences including:
- European seminar in Jerusalem in 1998
- World Scout Youth Forum in Balgowan, South Africa in 1999
- World Scout Conference of WOSM in Durban, in 1999
- Students Forum in Prague in 2000
- Forum 2000 Conference in Prague in 2000
- International Youth Parliament in Sydney, Australia in 2000
- International Youth Conference on Educating for a Human Future in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2001
- Council of Europe Symposium on "Youth - actors of social change?" in Strasbourg, France in 2001

Currently researches in the field of National Youth Policies, comprehensive approaches that have been implemented in many countries by all stakeholders of the Civil Society (governmental bodies, business sector and non-governmental organisations). In its first stage his research project will especially focus on the state of National Youth Policies in the countries of the Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).

Regular Member of the International Council on National Youth Policy (ICNYP), headquartered in Vienna; responsible for research (Steering Committee Member as from January 2002).

Co-operates with the Silesia Regional Chamber of Commerce. Contributes to the “Free Trade”, monthly magazine. Permanent contributor to “CZUWAJ”, magazine of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (1997-2002). Contributed to “EUROFOCUS”.
