About Me |
Oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi a world citizen is the Membership and ICT coordinator of the Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO), a position he has held since 2004 until 2007 when the advocacy and campaigns portfolio was added to his work, he implemented the project on institutionalizing anti-corruption practices for the establishment of democratic controls in south western communities of Nigeria in March 2006 supported by the UK Department for International Development; He moderates the UNICEF Voices of Youth’s take action and share your story thread.
Oluseyi has spoken on many issues of development at many National and International Conferences and have also participated alongside civil society actors from various regions of the world on policy issues and developmental plans, a consultant to many organizations both locally and abroad amongst which are AfriGrowth Foundation and UNICEF VOY, Babatunde is the Coordinator of the UNICEF- Rural Voices of Youth an initiative that takes development information to rural communities in countries all around the world.
Oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi co-developed the Keeping the peace at home project in Botswana and Boston which was short listed for the CIVICUS Nelson Mandela Gracia Machel Innovation Award in 2005. From January-December 2005 he successfully coordinated the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Volunteer Family’s project on ICT4D in rural communities of Oyo state, a project supported by local community efforts.
He is the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) Children and Youth task forces’ representative to the GCAP Mobilization task force- a task force responsible for planning the month of mobilization activities of GCAP in over 100 countries of the world. In October 2006 with the support of the United Nations Millennium Campaign Oyebisi mobilized over 8,000 people in Ibadan City to stand up against poverty and on October 16th and 17th 2007 he led a team of MDGs campaigners to mobilize 671,420 people to stand up and speak out against poverty in Nigeria
In January 2007, Oyebisi was given a certificate of commendation and plaque by the United Nations Millennium Campaign at an open forum organised for GCAP campaigners at the 7th World Social Forum in Nairobi, Kenya.
Oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi a Best use of Advocacy nominee in the 2007 Future Awards is an alumnus of the Federal College of Forestry and the World Bank Institute and holds a certificate in Community Development from the Wales Council for Voluntary Associations (WCVA).
