Passion
Yemisi is an incurable optimistic! She is a Development Specialist, Trainer and Facilitator, Compere, Business Consultant, Children, teens and youth counsellor. She has a passion for events management and likes working with her hands.
Education
She graduated with a BSc in Economics from Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria. She also has a Masters in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba also in Nigeria.
Work Experience
She worked as a Business Advisor/Consultant to micro and small enterprises operating in the informal sector of the Nigerian economy, while being a staff of Support & Training Entrepreneurship Program (STEP). STEP is an enterprise development organization funded by the World Bank Group. Her primary responsibilities included research into impediments to business growth, development of intervention mechanisms and diffusion of business knowledge through training programs, workshops, seminars and offering one-on-one consulting to grassroot entrepreneurs. Yemisi is passionate about personal development and will go all the way to acquire every knowledge and skill that will add more value to her, and equip her better in helping others. She worked in the Business Development Unit of Bluebird Communications, Maryland, Lagos - there she acquired skills in marketing communicatios.
She worked as Programme Officer with the Security, Justice and Growth (SJG) Programme, a project managed by British Council, Nigeria and funded by the UK Goverment's Department for International Development (DFID). There she handled projects that sought to strengthen non-oil economic growth in Nigeria through improving regulatory frameworks and providing technical assistance to key stakeholders in the Land Administration, Consumer Protection, Anti-corruption, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in states where DFID is active.
Interests
Yemisi provides advocacy through the print media and has authored three books namely; 'Child Development:Whose Role?', 'Let's Help Nigeria' and 'Charisma & Character' amongst other unpublished works.
Personal goals
Her goal is to build a solid career in international development (with a bias for socio-economic related fields) and contribute towards achieving the MDGs and the overall development desired in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Voluntary work
She is a volunteer in some developmental initiatives in Nigeria, one of such is Solid Foundation Ministry, a group of christian professionals that reach out to teenagers with a view to guiding them aright as they grow to become responsible adults in the future. She is also assisting rural women appreciate the importance of ICT and entrepreneurship through collaborations with Nigeria-HighTech Women (an NGO). She's also a member of 'Caring Heart', a group that cares for orphans and less privileged children at Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos, Nigeria. She loves being a "voice" for the "voiceless" and has kept the passion of protecting the interests of the underprivileged , especially children and youths.
She's about rounding-off her studies for a Masters degree in Development and International Cooperation at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
She is the Executive Director of Life Impact Foundation International (LIFI) - an NGO. She also renders consultancies to a wide range of clientelle in her area of Expertise.
