I live on the border of Ontario and Quebec near a town called Pembroke, a decidedly non-progressive place. There are pockets of light everywhere one turns though, and if I can, I will use my skills to act locally and make change in this area. I work in British Columbia seasonally as a tree planter. I spend the summers amidst the Rocky Mountains, and millions of millions of trees- tiny seedlings, giant skyscrapers, and countless felled and rotten timber. In some ways it is a sad job, in others inspiring. I want to become a student in a multidisciplinary field which focuses on preventing global ecological collapse; one which utilizes the most modern, creative social and economic theory and action to accomplish this. I know that it will not be enough, but I want to try to become a warrior in the great battle to save us from ourselves. I have a soul, that much I know. I cannot understand it, but I want to. Hopefully there will be a time to become honest and look at myself in the mirror soon. I am 25, in love with the woman of my dreams, and have a family which is disjointed but mine and mine alone. I love them. Life has been good to me, and I have seldom rose to face my challenges with grace and fortitude. I can, though. So can you.
