I have extensive experience in all aspects of voluntary work and while attending The Ahfad University I held several voluntary positions. My initial position was as the Student Union Director from 2002- 2005. I was the Coordinator for The Ahfad Student Union Charity Bazaar for The Maygoma Children’s Home. I also volunteered, as an Organizer for awareness lectures given by The HIV/AIDS Association and the CAFA Association. Being the Director and Organizer were a great opportunities for me to gain experience in leadership, teamwork and commitment. In 2003, I joined the United Nations Friends Association, which later became the Sudanese Association for Youth Development (SAYD), and was selected as Vice President in 2004. During this period I was the Coordinator for the Sudanese Youth Movement Initiative, the International Youth Day 2005 Event, and a Charity Bazaar for a Humanitarian Aid Organization. As Vice President and Coordinator I strengthened my leadership experience and developed my skills in planning, programming, designing and problem solving. In addition to my experience, I have participated in many trainings, workshops and conferences. I have extensive training in reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, family planning and received training from the Sudanese Developmental Theater Society on using theatre as a public awareness mechanism. In 2004, I participated in a workshop conducted by Packard Foundation in collaboration with Ahfad University for Women Focusing on Reproductive Health & HIV/AIDS. In 2005, I was invited by The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to participate in peer education workshop conducted by Y-Peer Network in Tunisia. It was an opportunity to visit youth centers in Tunisia and was a very beneficial experience. In 2006 I participated in a workshop conducted by Y-Peer Morocco and I attended the Arab Thought and Reform Conference in Egypt. Both of these events were great opportunities for me to discover what is going on in other parts of the world regarding young people activities. Finally in August of 2006 I was appointed to the position of Health and Environment Officer for SAYD. During this period I have worked with the focal point of establishing a focus/working group for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA) in Sudan. The group consists of youth associations, CAFA Association, Family Planning groups, EDAZ, YFC in addition to SAYD.
