About Me

I am Mr. Naga Gamoga I am 21 years of age and was a part of the organising committee for the first ever National Youth Summit that was on theme: PNG Youth - Voices and Action for Achieveing the MDGs. We are now also in process of organising a National Youth Parliment that is being planned for the 2 week of december. This is an inititive of the Minister responsible for youth here Dame Carol Kidu. I was also a particpant to the First Pacific Youth Festival in Tahiti.

I am a Koitabuan which is a native tribe of Port Moresby. My Familiy and I have set up a Trainning and Knowledge Centre on our family plot just within Port Moresby which we use to have workshops and church related activities. My Mum is trying to make it a Preschool for teh surrounding communities and we are still awaitng clreaence from the department of Education. I also work with the Youths of the village to assist them with income generating projects. Most Youths of the village are unemployed and out of school and there is also a problem with the female youths turning to prositution for money. I am currently working on a proposal to get some funding that will get some of the youth involved in fishing and farming activities.(We have a lot of vacant land which is being taken over by unplanned settlers/squatters that cause many problems for us here in the city.)

Currently though I am workinh with the other youths of the organising commitee of the First national Youth Summit to register our group as an asscociation which will be an organisiation to moniter the provincial actions plans and the commitments that were made during the summit.

I am also currently working with some youths attached to the World Bank that are doing some awareness on the WDR 2006 and other youth related issues.

I enjoy doing youth Work, I believe it is a privellage to have knowledge and to be informed which is why believe it is also vital to spread this knowledge and information to the youths and the people of PNG.
