Nabil Eid Who has a successful record of accomplishment and experience in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development Rural Community. He served at the National ICT Training Strategy for Syria, under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Technology in Syria and the UNDP / -Syria Office (2004). This included the launch of many Telecentres and ICT programs, such as Rural Knowledge Network “ICT4Dev, Reefnet project ", its impact on scientific and socio-economic development. Nabil contributed in many national, regional, global initiatives. and currently works at central region Telecentres Director. He is assisting in launching in new initiatives such as writing the project document Rational, proposals, budgets, plan and …etc. He is also chairman of Studies Centre for Handicapped Research (SCHR) organization to help and development all the persons with disabilities to use ICT. Mr. Eid is also responsible for developing rural communities in Middle East and North Africa (TC-MENA) region and participates in Eastern Africa telecentres movement. Nabil holds a Master degree in engineering from University of Aleppo, Syria. In addition, holds a depth studies in Information and Communication Technology and computer systems. In addition, he is author to many books & articles in Telecentre Magazine and programs in ICT4D PWD. Mr. Eid holds several training and workshops certificates from different organization such as UNDP, ESCWA, Telecentre.org, universities, NGOs and Institutes such as Leadership community development certificate. The use ICT for development rural people as a way to close the digital divide in rural areas. More ideas lunched for development. For example, Telecentres, (E-BAG) Electronic Bag, (MCL) Mobile Computer Lab, … all these global initiatives design to travels to villages, schools or cultural centres and other rural community areas. Thousands and thousands of rural people (women, children, youth, disabled ) aspire to learn IT skills and get a chance to learn on computer system and for most, it's their first real to explore World Wide Web. The criteria for the selection of the rural areas in communities has to do with where find the largest digital gap. The target rural women, youth and children which no accessing to technology due to the places they live in and their social condition to cover the province in a better way and be able to reach many more rural women and children and allowing to gain training on ICT skills and connect to the internet. ICTs in rural areas achieve more goals in strengthen the use of ICTs among rural people and build capacities in ICT use and application, and expand activities to reach out to people. ICTs projects aim to bring technology to even the remote rural areas in community and also to improve competitive advantage by providing the rural people a good opportunities to learn and get job in market places. some basic computer skills will become part of the global digital world.
