YOUNG ABDI ABUKAR INDIVITUAL CASE TO THE LAWYERS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND (UNHCR) THE UNITED NATION HIGH COMMISION FOR REFUGEES
Hello. My name is Young Abdi Abukar. Am currently living in Mayfair, Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been referred to you by tom Paquette, Production Supervisor.
Youth for Human Rights International in loss Angeles, who received an email I submitted seeking assistance. I came to South Africa in 2003, after a group of armed men’s in uniform that was not known by me came and attacked our house in Mogadishu. This mans demanded me to bring out traitors which I did not knew what they meant .they brought all of my brothers together in one room and start beating them up with the butt of their guns. They end up beating up two of my brothers to death, and they threatened to kill us all if they were going to find us again at our own house and they promised to burn down our house as well. The agony of losing most of my families and all of our belongings during the civil war in Somalia and the disappearance of my father Results in a displaces of my relatives and family members. I was in shock to see what was happening in our country and our people, by that time I was only 12 years old. There was nothing that I could do rather than just escape the horror that was taking place that is when I saw a group of families trying to escape the disaster of the civil war and I followed them I had no choice and I could not stay behind and fight back because I was at a young age. The families whom I followed were coming to South Africa who sympathized with me after hearing my sad story. when we arrived here (south Africa) then the families decided that I will be on my own since I had my uncle whom has been living here (South Africa) I searched for my uncle and I found him in cape town and I explained to him what had happened to the rest of the family back at home (Somalia) he was shocked to hear the sad story, and I started living with him. My uncle he was a business man owning a shop in Cape Town. One night I was with him in his shop that is when we got attacked by a group of robberies whom surrounded the shop and they shot my uncle to death until they make sure he was totally dead and they took everything that was inside the shop and left me behind with a dead body of my uncle and all the small things that my uncle left behind that I gained a leaving from has been robbed and attacked by xenophobia that had recently broke out in the country and By the fact that my community stigmatized me and call me all sort of names just because of the tattoos and the local friends who are very good to me. They threatened me that if I don't stop socializing with these friends and erase the tattoos they will make my kill arguing that I was a disgrace to the Somali Muslim community. They also told me point blank that I must stop all these activities. I had reached the point of hating life and feeling that there is no reason to live. Dear sir / madam there no justification for some one to live a life dictated by some few arrogant and hardliner morons? But the fact that I am living amongst them make me worry for my life each and every minute and I hope that you can assist me with a resettlement to a third country and safety protection from UNHCR MY CELLPHONE NOMBER IN +27832164588
