About Me |
"A graduate from Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Turkey additionally with a masters degree on STIs and HIV from the University College London and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Over the past six years Muge has been working on HIV and sexual health through volunteering in many organizations. Currently she lives in London, United Kingdom where she is working in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust focusing on HIV management and also drug and vaccine trials."
Over the past six years I have been working with both on a national, regional and international level in the field of sexual and reproductive health. I was involved in many serious projects, and had the opportunity to participate in more than a few international activities, meetings and conferences. In this process I have gained experience in the fields of global health, primary health care and reproductive health. In addition I have experience with youth adult partnership, international collaboration, working with international organizations like as WHO, UNFPA and UNAIDS. I have sought out and found the chance to work with NGOs and CBOs in many different countries.
I began all of this as a TurkMSIC National Officer on Reproductive Health including AIDS (2005-2006), then continued as an IFMSA-SCORA Regional Assistant for Europe (2006-2008) and as a TurkMSIC Project Support Division Director (2006-2008). During the period of 2008 – 2009 I was working as a Liaison Officer on Reproductive Health Issues including HIV/AIDS in IFMSA, while at the same time I was working as a Medical Consultant in the Positive Living Association. At the same time I was working with Y-Peer, as a trainer and focal point of Turkey.
Over the past two years I have worked on a study related to stigma and discrimination in medical settings in Turkey through a survey done amongst medical students, which I had presented in several conferences such as Global Health Conference, Yale Uni and International AIDS Conference, Mexico. In order to improve the wellbeing of PLHIV through creating a non discriminatory environment within medical settings I coordinated a pilot project to change the medical curriculum in some of the medical faculties while I was working as a Medical Consultant in a network of PLHIV in Turkey.
Starting from 2010, I was involved in GYCA as Regional Focal Point for Western Europe. I will be continuing to serve as RFP in 2011 as well.
