About Me

I have extensive professional and academic background in two main areas: communication and social development. Presently, I have finished an MA on International Development at York University (Toronto), and I also have a previous MA in Communication Studies from Leeds University (U.K.).

In my country (Uruguay), I worked as Lecturer and researcher on Communication Social Sciences at the ORT University in Montevideo; but also as Consultant for several governmental, nongovernmental and non-profit multilateral organizations, locally and externally.

As Development Practitioner I gained experience in preparing, planning, managing and evaluating projects proposals which incorporated social needs and priorities to action-plans from and for the communities involved; working in fundamental areas such as democratic participation, health campaigns for children and youth, human rights, employment. In such roles, I also learnt about research methodologies, programs implementation from divergent perspectives: social workers, grassroots beneficiaries, policy makers and funding institutions, and participatory evaluations.

As Communication Consultant I organized campaigns for public awareness and dissemination of information, but also I have been in charge of trainings and workshops to portray and consider different issues of collective relevance, having written and edited publications and toolkits for local communities about different issues.

Additionally, during my work in the Ministry of Social Development I collaborated closely to the gathering of information and facilitated meetings to assess goals, impacts and results.

Having as central concern the participation and empowerment of local communities, particularly through the support of social networks and enhancing local capabilities, I feel I could be a qualified consultant to any organization.
