About Me   About Me
I've been working with teachers, parents and youth for about 25 years and am committed to empowering youth leadership for a sustainable world that works for all.

I live in a beautiful part of the world here on Whidbey Island in Washington State, amd married and have two grown sons, Malcolm & David. Our wonderful cat, Guan Yin (a Buddhist name associated with the goddes of mercy & compassion) showed up at our doorstep in 2006 just as our other cat was dying.

I like kayaking, running or walking through the woods and working with youth and teachers, which is my job. When our site is fully built out you'll find lots of articles on issues relating to sustainability.

Oh, and by the way, I love poetry and write a bit. Here's one:

This Place

This place is more than dirt, plants, shrubs, trees,
birds, animals, house, rains. winds and far-off
views of sea and mountain.

There’s a soul here, I found,
or, rather, it found me.

Many times we contemplated a larger piece of land,
looked and, dissatisfied,
returned home again,
happy for the grace that led us here
that first day when I rushed
to the back area,
a flat, sacred space
enclosed by a cathedral of Douglas Fir
and Western Red Cedar.

One journey outward wrung
an unexpected veil of tears in my heart,
and I heard the trees ask
“Why do you want to leave?”

Slowly….I, too, began to put roots down,
and nature wrapped her softening arms about me.

Now this place lives in me, and
I no longer call my life my own,
for it belongs to something much larger,
infinite through its connection
to a place where
I became nothing
and everything.
