About Me |
I was raised in the USA, because of my job I saw much of the world. But it was in taking a path least traveled that I became educated as to who I am.
"A man is nothing without his pride, but without an education he has nothing to be proud of..."
I wanted to help my children learn, I did not become their teacher but a study partner with them. I learned with them and saw them grow. I had to learn to let go. For it was their paths to take not that of my own anymore. Learning to say no, and setting limits is not easy, but important to keep some sense of sanity.
I help Pakistani children in my community learn to understand English. I went back to the basics of phonics and helping them sound out the words. Introducing them to Unabridge audio, because many of the parents can not read English properly, and listening to a child explain to me the essense of what he read and comprehended from that text. Yet, tears of joy come to my face when a frustrated young boy finally understands words and no longer guess what they are. "To help educate a child is like receiving a blessing in Heaven."
