About Me

Monrovia, Liberia: 2009

Mahmud Johnson is an 18-year-old graduate of the B. W. Harris Episcopal High School, where he graduated as the valedictorian of his class. Presently, he is an undergraduate student at the United Methodist University on Ashmun Street in Monrovia, majoring in Economics. Mahmud currently serves as the GYCA's National Focal Point for Liberia.

Mahmud works as a co-host of the “Let’s Talk About Sex” radio show, a component of Population Services International’s SmartChoice® program in Liberia. The show is a youth-driven public service initiative which is aimed at arming the Liberian youth populace with relevant information in order for them to make smart decisions concerning sex, especially now with the scourging realities of HIV infections amongst youths as well as the high rates of early pregnancy in Liberia.

Contemporaneously, Mahmud works as an intern in the Public Affairs department of the Ministry of State/ Office of the President, Republic of Liberia, where he has been tasked with a lot of responsibilities, including developing content for the “Lift Liberia,” radio show, as well as drafting responses for electronically-generated questions and comments about the Liberian government through the “Ask the Executive” link on the Liberian Executive Mansion website.

Mahmud lives in 72nd, Paynesville with his parents, and he hails from Grand Cape Mount County.
