I am a third year undergraduate student pursuing both the Co-operative Program in International Development Studies as well as Environmental Studies at the University of Toronto. I am spending the fourth year of my program as a co-op student with the International Institute for Sustainable Developement in Winnipeg, Canada. My past work accomplishements include working with Frontier College, a Canadian, non-profit literacy organization. At Frontier College, I served as a Logistical Support Worker assisting with tasks associated with trianing volonteer tutors to serve communities in need. More recently, I worked for and continue to work for (on a part-time basis) the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto. At OISE, I serve as a Research Assistant for Dr. Tara Goldstein. The research project in question deals with Anti-homophobia Teacher Education. That is, how can we prepare pre-service teachers to deal with issues concerning homophobic harrassment and discrimination and to transform schools into a supportive and positive environment for individuals who identify themselves as queer. On the voluntary front, I have worked for the United Nations Association in Canada (UNAC), specifically with their Environment Committee. I have also been involved with various environmental organizations in Toronto (my home town) doing ecological restoration work.
