 About Me |
My name is Meaghan, 16 going on 17 and residing and in Auckland, New Zealand.
I find inspiration in the potential and empathy of today's youth, even though we're surrounded by prejudice, warped priorities, and corrupted politics.
I'm relatively liberal, secular of religion but have faith in humanity, and am particularly a firm opponent of inequality for the LGBT community, governmental ignorance of third-world poverty, and the 21st century mindset that causes us to spend more on the military than education and healthcare combined.
I am a student of Macleans College and enjoy drama, debating, writing, speaking competitions, youth advocacy, and nothing cheers me up more than a good book and Bob Dylan song. Although I attempt to be a dedicated student, Facebook and Digg often get the better of me.
Although I used to be cynical of popular charities, I'm now an advocate of organizations such as World Vision and Amnesty International, and hope to pursue a career in politics, law, or academic psychology.
I'm hoping to gain entry into an American university, and am super excited for the 2009 United Nations Youth Conference which I have been selected as a New Zealand delegate for!
